Kuwait at the Paralympics

Kuwait made its Paralympic Games début at the 1980 Summer Paralympics in Arnhem, with a delegation in track and field. The country has participated in every subsequent edition of the Summer Paralympics, but has never taken part in the Winter Paralympics.〔(Kuwait at the Paralympics ), International Paralympic Committee
Kuwaiti competitors have won a total of 49 Paralympic medals, of which 10 gold, 17 silver and 22 bronze. Adelah Al-Romi won the country's first two gold medals in 1980, in women's sprinting, in the 60m and 200m (category 2). In 1984, she was also Kuwait's only gold medallist, this time in the discus. In 1988, she won two more gold medals, in the javelin and shot put, making her the most successful Kuwaiti Paralympian of all time. This time, however, men also took gold medals: Husain Al-Enezi in the shot put, category 6; and Adnan Al-Khulefi in the men's javelin, category 6. In 1992, for the first time, Al-Romi was not a Paralympic champion, winning "only" a silver medal in the discus. Aly Mohamed won a gold in the men's javelin (category THW7) - Kuwait's only gold medal of the Games that year. In 1996, it was Fahed Al-Mutairi who won a gold in the men's javely (F35). Kuwait's next Paralympic champion (and the most recent to date) was Hamad Aladwani in 2004, in the men's 400m sprint (T53).〔(Kuwait at the Paralympics ), International Paralympic Committee〕
